Responsible Tourism

Preserving the Andes for Future Generations.

We are extremely fortunate to live and work in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash. We recognize the fragile nature of receding glaciers and delicate ecosystems, and we are committed to leaving a positive footprint.

Pillar 01

Local Community

Supporting Local People. We are a local company. All of our guides, cooks, porters, and arrieros come from the Huaraz region and surrounding agricultural villages.

Pillar 02

Dignity & Respect for Our Crew

15 kg

Strict Porter Limit

We never overload our human staff. We provide them with high-quality waterproof tents and the exact same gourmet meals our clients eat.

40 kg

Max Donkey Load

Animal welfare is paramount. We demand arrieros keep donkeys and horses well-fed, rested, and strictly under the 40kg evenly distributed limit.

100 %

Local Trail Crew

By hiring local staff and purchasing local food, we ensure the income generated by our expeditions stays within remote mountain economies.

“We liked the use of local resources... appreciated that the donkey drivers ate with us at night & not on their own. We were especially pleased to see that Victor, our Donkey Driver, was treated with the same dignity and respect accorded to us as clients.”

Pillar 03

Environmental Care Code.

We operate on a zero-litter tolerance policy. Through our annual pre-season training courses, we enforce these four strict protocols across all our expeditions.

01

Zero Litter Tolerance

Rubbish is separated into organic (for local animal feed) and inorganic (removed to Huaraz). We also instruct our staff to collect waste left behind by others.

02

Water Source Protection

We use only biodegradable detergents. We provide laundry bowls, ensuring soapy water is emptied well away from pristine alpine lakes and river systems.

03

Strict Sanitation

Where public facilities don't exist, we deploy private toilet tents, burying waste strictly 50m+ away from water. We use "poo tube" removal on glaciers.

04

Flora & Fauna Respect

We treat all plants, birds, and animals with care, recognizing their rarity. Our clients are briefed to respect the fragile high-altitude ecosystems at all times.
